About

I started out in computing in the mid-80s, working on old-school mainframes in the health service, including kidney transplant services. After a stint in retail management and running the UK arm of a computer company’s technical division, I shifted focus to the arts and teaching.

I retrained as a tutor teaching Maths and English, later setting up a company teaching non-verbal and disabled people how to dance and choreograph. This led to collaborations with Lancaster Council, De Montfort University, Plymouth University, and international artists as part of the International Dance Umbrella at the Southbank Centre, where I worked as Lead Artist during a two-week residency with Candoco Dance Company.

I earned a BA (Hons) in Fine Art along the way and have since worked on a range of creative projects. Recently, I’ve been involved in large-scale bamboo art installations for events like the Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony in Birmingham (2022) and across Liverpool City Region (2023–2024), running creative workshops and teaching others about the environmental benefits of bamboo.

Also in 2023 I created Art Installations for St. Helens Art in Libraries these consisted of 3 "books" containing light installations based on the weather events in 3 classic novels. These were based on my work "Weatherscape"

In 2024, I was proud to win the Culture and Creativity Award for Imagine Bamboo is Everywhere in the Liverpool City Region, a project that brought people together through sustainable art.
